Orinta Pranaityte

Wellbeing centered, technology and innovation-driven. I am a Visual Artist based in the East Midlands, UK, who specializes in arts and design as well as, performance art, video and sound work. I graduated from a year-long Masters Fine Art course at the University of Lincoln (2018), where I became increasingly interested in community engagement with the arts and work with various art projects.

Overview

Currently working in the Health & Social Care sector, I lead and deliver arts and crafts classes and long-term arts projects for seniors with various stages of dementia, where I manage people with complex needs and provide personalized activities on a weekly basis. In other art roles, I have worked young people aged from the ages of 18 - 24, supporting their creative processes. As an example, I mentored four emerging artists from University of Lincoln in a residency titled L.A.R (Live Art Lincoln) in Gallery at St Martin’s and provided advice from a performance art specialist background and risk assessed each artist's work. Whilst I worked as a Visual Artist at soundLINCS (Music Development Organization), my main responsibility was the budgeting, design and creation of soundWELL projects at Rainforest Playroom in Lincoln County Hospital paediatrics ward, as well as leading musical workshops with the ages of 0 - 8-year-olds. Throughout my time at soundLINCS, I gained an Arts Award in Bronze through training. In contemporary arts, I have spent four years in higher education on critical reports, organizing public performance events at Lincoln Performing Arts Centre and working professionally as a Freelance Performance Artist. Additionally, I have produced and created performance artwork for national and international performance art festivals such as ] performance s p a c e[, Little Wolf Parade, Tempting Failure CIC - London’s Biennial of International Performance Art and Noise and Body and Freedom Festival.

SOUNDWELL PROJECT (2)

Musical Wonderland
Lincoln County Hospital

"I had the opportunity to be one of the Music Facilitators and to lead the sessions throughout the five days with Kirsty and Elizabeth, another soundLINCS Music Facilitator. This was a very exciting opportunity for me, because I usually put myself in the background by documenting, recording and making sure I capture the essence of the project in my very own artistic way. Even though I haven’t experienced a Music Facilitator’s role previously, it came with ease in the inspiration week ‘Musical Wonderland’. I suppose I had a certain confidence seeing the entire project and the ideas growing from the start to the end. Even more importantly the artistic vision for the playrooms transformation week succeeded!" - Creating a Musical Wonderland in a Paediatric Ward, 2016.
